No brand is 100% sustainable, that's true.
Everything we make will have an impact on the planet, and the people. Here at This Is Anyo we are working hard to challenge the boundaries of garment manufacture, make responsible choices, and be open and transparent with our customers.
This blog post is dedicated to one of our best-selling collections - The Natural Raw Collection. These pieces have been designed specifically to make the lowest impact on the environment... whilst being effortlessly stylish, of course!
This collection is undyed which has created a pure, off-white colour that perfectly represents the organic cotton plant. There are cotton particles within the fabric which can be seen as small black flecks showing the true essence of the plant.
The benefits of removing the dying process from production =
With no dyes involved in this collection during manufacture there are fewer chemicals used as well as up to 920% less water and energy usage.
As the garments are completely free of dyes, they each tell their own story. The characteristics and colour of the cotton plants can vary (ever so slightly) depending on factors such as weather, time of harvest and soil conditions.
We are excited to say our factory have now made adjustments to the production of these garments to minimise the environmental impact further. During the initial stages of manufacture, the fibres from the organic cotton plant have to go through a spinning process to turn them into fabric. Our factory have now implemented a gentler spinning method which consumes less energy than traditional spinning. It also preserves the cotton plant so the particles are intact and the fibres are stronger.
